Dua Lipa’s post-Met Gala soirée ensemble is an example of how maximalist layering can be done with finesse. The famous “Sweetest Pie” singer arrived at her own festivity, held at Virgo, draped in an undeniably chic Chanel attire, composed of athletic wear and a profusion of sparkling jewelry.
Lipa opted to layer multiple strands of gargantuan vintage pearls, along with chain Chanel necklaces — some with the French fashion house’s iconic name and emblem emblazoned on them — atop a sporty black co-ord, procured from Chanel’s collection for Spring/Summer 2022. The co-ord, consisting of a bra top and semi-sheer, textured biker shorts, acted as the perfect canvas for Lipa to showcase her jewelry. Underneath the shorts, she wore black sheer tights decorated with Chanel’s famous “CC” logo, paired with black pumps, adorning the heels with delicate pearls.
The impressive set didn’t stop there. Lipa added a lot of bold accessories to the look, such as black leather fingerless gloves, studded with white faux pearls, matching leather cuffs, oversized silver earrings, black sunglasses embellished with minuscule crystals, and a pearl and a chain layered Chanel belt, ornamented with trinkets spelling out the fashion house’s name – a piece that perfectly complemented her necklaces.
Lipa’s luxurious ’90s-inspired party look marked her third wardrobe change of the night. The pop superstar stunned the Met Gala red carpet with a black-and-white tweed Chanel ball gown – the very same design donned by Claudia Schiffer at the brand’s Autumn/Winter couture show in 1992. After ascending the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she changed her outfit and slipped into another vintage Chanel outfit, a sheer black lace dress from the fashion house’s collection for Spring/Summer 1995, originally worn by Stephanie Seymour on the runway and in the campaign.
