As part of its foray into the makeup realm, the brand has brought on board Sir John, a celebrated celebrity makeup artist, as its first-ever Makeup Creative Director.
Sir John, who boasts a roster of high-profile clients like Beyoncé, Zendaya, and Margot Robbie, is thrilled to share his vision for makeup with Kilian Hennessy and the Kilian Paris family. According to a statement from the brand, “Makeup has the ability to immediately put you in a festive mood and uplift the party, just as fragrance.” Sir John is excited to create the most opulent products to perfectly match with the brand’s stunning perfumes and enable revelers to party all night long.
What lies in store for the future of Kilian cosmetics? Until now, the fragrance brand has offered limited makeup options, such as the Le Rouge Parfum lipsticks, which are available in liquid, matte, and satin finishes, and are lightly scented with some of Kilian’s signature fragrances. Sir John’s first order of business is to overhaul the lipsticks. As an expert in backstage makeup (thanks to his numerous years directing makeup for fashion shows and as Beyoncé’s go-to artist), Sir John understands the importance of multi-tasking products, which is evident in the brand’s announcement video, where he uses the lipsticks not only on the lips but also on the eyes and cheeks.
Although the brand has yet to reveal any specifics about its expansion plans, it’s likely to delve deeper into the area of color cosmetics essentials for a night out that go beyond the lips.
